Horizonte – Rytų revanšas

Pagrindinis mano paskaitos objektas – tai plati kultūrinė Rytų revanšo tema. „Rytų revanšo” terminu aš siūlau vadinti vidinius kultūrinius-genetinius Rytų Europos procesus. Šiuo atveju „revanšo” sąvoka neturi jokių požymių, liudijančių veiksmą su vektoriumi į išorę (ir reiškiančiu skolos grąžinimą ar kerštą Vakarų pasauliui). Priešingai, revanšas turi aiškių savimonės bruožų. Todėl šis revanšas yra pirmiausia nukreiptas į mus, ir jis išreiškia istorijos peržiūrėjimą, kerštą mūsų pasirinktoms vertybėms ir kartu teatrališką vidinės nevilties gestą.

Rytų Europos tragedija kyla dėl to, kad neįmanoma iš naujo apibrėžti savimonės, kad pasaulio žemėlapyje Rytų Europai neliko vietos, tarsi tai būtų dar vienas virtualus žemynas už geografijos ir geopolitikos ribų, tačiau čia realu sulaukti kultūrinio sprogimo. Pagrindinės šio fenomeno prielaidos yra, visų pirma, tamsi, nesuprantama ir neaiški istorija, nepateikianti atsakymų į dabarties klausimus; antra, dabartinis kultūrinis nutolimas nuo likusio pasaulio, nuolatinė nežinia ir pagrindo nebuvimas, tampantys buferiu tarp civilizacijų; trečia, desakralizuotas dvasingumas, kuriame glūdi naujo sakralumo gimimas; ir ketvirta, poapokaliptinė situacija už moralinių dichotomijų ribų, tarsi sekant Herman Hesse formule: „Erdvė atvira – nieko nėra šventa...”

Paskaitoje pateiksiu savąjį požiūrį į poapokaliptinę Ukrainą, apibūdinsiu pagrindinius jos kultūrinės egzistencijos bruožus, bandysiu numatyti galimas Rytų revanšo pasekmes pasaulinių kultūrinių-genetinių procesų kontekste, t.y. vykstant globalizacijai, unifikacijai, civilizacijos opozicijai, metaideologijų ir metadoktrinų žlugimui. Ukraina – tai metaistorijos erdvė, įkūnyta transgresija, dvasinių eksperimentų vieta, iš vienos pusės - visų pasaulio vertybių saugykla, iš kitos - vieta be visų jų, kultūrinis vakuumas ir protinis išsigimimas.

The Eastern Revanch on the Horizon

The primary concern of my lecture will be a wide cultural topic of the Eastern Revanche ­— a concept, which I invented for signifying the inner culture-genetic processes in Eastern Europe. In this case, the concept of “revanche” does not have any indications of action with the outward vector (in the meaning of repay or vengeance to the Western World). On the contrary, it has distinct traits of self-identification. Thus, this revanche is primarily aimed at us, being a reconsideration of our history, a vengeance on our value positions and a theatrical gesture of the inner despair at the same time.

The tragedy of Eastern Europe lies in the impossibility of new self-identification, in the absence of the place for Eastern Europe on the world map, as if it were another virtual continent beyond geography and geopolitics, but also a great chance for the cultural explosion. The major preconditions for this phenomenon are, firstly, the dark, incomprehensible, and unclear history, which does not respond to the main questions of the present; secondly, the actual cultural alienation from the rest of the world, the permanent suspense, and the absence of the ground, being a buffer between the civilizations; thirdly, the desacralized spirituality, which contains the perspective for the birth of a new sacrum; and, fourthly, the post-apocalyptic situation beyond the boundaries of moral dichotomies, as though following Herman Hesse’s formula: “The space is open — nothing is sacred…”

In my lecture I will give my perspective on post-apocalyptic Ukraine, outline the main traits of its cultural existence, forecast the possible outcomes of the Eastern Revenge in the context of the world culture-genetic processes, such as globalisation, unification, opposition of the civilization, and crash of the metaideologies and metadoctrines. Ukraine is a space for the metahistory, an embodied transgression, a ground for the spiritual experiments, both a receptacle for all values of the world and their absence, cultural vacuum and mental monstrosity.
