Tai filmas-alegorija apie vieną Žemėje esančią „mažytę vietelę”, kurios gyventojus užvaldė sumanymas sukurti kitokią visuomenę – tai hipių komuna, savo prieglobstį ir šilumą suteikianti benamiams, elgetoms ir neįgaliems žmonėms. Čia gyvenantys žmonės įsimyli vienas kitą ir tokiu būdu dar labiau apsunkina savo padėtį. Humanistinis ir kartu beprotiškas komunos įkūrėjo patosas grindžiamas viena idėja: reikia dovanoti savo kūną kitam; tai seksas su suluošintais ir neįgaliais žmonėmis vardas visuotinio žmonijos išsigelbėjimo. Komunos įkūrėjas paaukoja savo gyvenimą „Meilės šventyklos” statybai, tačiau jo auka tampa nereikalinga. Komuna suyra iš vidaus, o filmas baigiamas fiziniu jos žlugimu – komunos gyventojai lieka vieni ir tokie pat sužlugdyti. Viltis gimsta tuomet, kai viskas atrodo beviltiška.

The film is a parable about "a small place" on earth, whose inhabitants are fascinated with the idea of building up a different type of a community - a hippie commune where homeless, beggars and cripples find home and warmth. Here people fall in love and make themselves increasingly more miserable. Humanistic but simultaneously insane pathos of the commune’s founder is focused on the idea of the free gift of the body - sex with the wretched, crippled people for the sake of universal salvation. The founder sacrifices himself to build the "Temple of Love", but his sacrifice turns out to be senseless. The commune delapitates from the inside and the film ends with its physical destruction, leaving the people who had gathered there still alone and wretched. Hope comes when there is no hope.
