| Please find attached the brochure of the HESP Summer
Schools Program 2002. HESP is glad to be supporting forty-one
schools based at thirty universities across the region this year. The
summer schools address junior university faculty teaching in the social
sciences and humanities interested in developing the content, methods and
materials of teaching in their disciplines. The program offers a variety
of courses across the region scheduled for periods of two-four weeks
taught by international teams of resource persons and focusing on
developing curriculum and methodologies of teaching and learning.
Interested academics should apply directly to the course directors
according to the contact information provided in the attached brochure.
As a rule, schools fund fully the participants from the region invited
on a competitive selection basis. HESP may be able to fund additional
participants from the priority regions of Central Asia, Caucasus and
Mongolia by giving allocations for travel grants to the respective
foundations. This will be discussed separately with individual foundation
coordinators, when the selection for the schools gives the initial picture
of the participants' geography.
